Alex Tieghi-Walker of Tiwa Select and Max Farago of FARAGO will co-curate a
collection of works by visionary artists and accomplished makers. Contrary to
cultural tendencies that emphasize the result over the process, this show aims to
direct the conversation in celebration of those who have spent decades finessing
their practice.
Opening concurrently with Frieze: Los Angeles 2022, this show connects artists for
their approach to making. These two and three dimensional works span a variety
of media, including ceramic and metal, textile and wood, paper and canvas. Many
of the included works were not intended for display in a formal art environment.
Rather, these pieces were made for another purpose; utilitarian or spiritual,
public or private.
Many of these artists have followed a more unsuspected path to creating works,
with pieces reflecting a momentous moment in their lives, a transition in
circumstance, or without consideration for the contemporary art market.
